Alagaësia - Before Galbatorix's Rule
Long before the elves were known in the land of Alagaësia, and even longer before men, the Dwarves roamed Alagaësia freely, doing as they wished. But Alagaësia was not only home to these creatures, but to lots of other animals, magical and non-magical alike. The most commonly known, and biggest, of all the magical creatures was the dragons. These creatures roamed Alagaësia as free as the dwarves, and they were never as dumb as they looked.
It wasn't till over a hundred years later that the Elves came from across the sea. No one knows exactly where they came from, besides the elves themselves. From the beginning everyone could tell the Elves and the Dragons never really got along. Even the dwarves weren't entirely happy with it. Soon after, the war began.
The war began when a foolish young Elf hunted down and killed a Dragon, as if it were just mere fun. This was a big mistake for the young elf, and so began the longest and most brutal war seen by the both the elves and the dragons.
Through time, conditions worsened for both the Elves and the Dragons. The lack of proper comunication between the two species had started the war, and was also what refused to let it end. The problem was solves when a young elf by the name of Eragon decided to try and make friend with the dragons.
Finding one of the dragon's eggs that had been accidently left by the dragons, Eragon took it with him and raised it. It was not the easiest task that he could of set his mind to, but once his drago grew large enough, and Eragon was strong enough, the two together began traveling over Alagaësia, attempting to make peace between the two races.
Eventually Eragon and his dragon suceeded in their once-impossible task, and the dragons began to give the elves two or three eggs a year, which would be hatched to form a new Dragon Rider pair. The purpose was to keep peace between the elves and the dragons. However, over time the Rider's powers grew, gaining them more power and respect than any ruler in Alagaësia.
This agreement lasted peacefully for over a hundred years, and even ten times that. But this all ended when one rider came to exist in the land Alagaësia. he was named Galbatorix, and after his dragon was killed, Galbatorix was driven mad, and wanted revenge for this act. After being denied a knew dragon by the Riders, Galbatorix only got madder, and once again a long and brutal war was begun.
Alagaësia - During Galbatorix's Rule
With the help of his friend Morzan, and 11 other dragon riders who together called themselves the Forsworn, Galbatorix defeated the last of the Dragon Riders, and annointed himself as king over all of Alagaësia. The only lands that remain away from his rule are Surda, and the lands beyond the Hardarac Desert.
Since that day Galbatorix has ruled over Alagaësia, and no one questioned his rule. Everyone believed the days of the Dragon Rider's were absolete, that is until a poor farmboy by the name of Eragon found a dragon egg while hunting in the spine.
Eragon found himself on many adventures, and with faithful, and a few unfaithful, friends beside him he managed to defeat Galbatorix, and re-establish the days of the dragon riders.
Alagaësia - After Galbatorix's Rule
Although the Riders have returned, few are left. All the known Riders are residing in Alagaësia, finishing their training as young Riders. But new problems arise, and together the Riders must reform the broken bond, and defeat whatever new things come their way.
